So I find myself registered for a single malt event at Temple Con and zero experience with the stuff. To rectify this situation I will be having Single Malt Saturday with some of my old gaming guys and gals, and require the assistance of the interwebs. I welcome any opinions on the best starter Scotch but am primarily interested in some ideas for games.

I was thinking it might be nice to sit around being fancy pants Scotch drinkers playing some Diplomacy but quickly realized that the game has enough arguments without booze involved. Another thought was possibly Catan. Originally I was thinking Seafarers of Catan but Knights and Nobles might be more in line with the theme of the night.

What Scotch would you prefer as an introduction to friends, and more importantly what game would you pair with it?
